⚠️ move to nekoweb

after a brief month-long stint on neocities and a couple hours debugging perfectly fine javascript, i have moved over to nekoweb! i actually am excited by the idea of making api calls, and am not willing to pay for this silly little website. if nekoweb fails me i'll probably look into github or self hosting. for now, i'm keeping the site mirrored in both places, but neocities will be a little broken. check me out at lumi-site.nekoweb.org - 3/15/26

my future stuff:

in efforts to be the coolest version of myself, i like to have some ongoing projects. here's some stuff i'm interested in doing

  • degoogle (and de-other-big-tech-companies) my tech life. that means moving off of gmail [proton mail, tuta, disroot], google photos, google calendar, google drive [nextcloud, owncloud, crypt.ee, cryptpad], github [codeberg], notion [joplin, turtlapp], spotify, and windows. i have no current plans to leave android, youtube or google maps. i have some general resources and infomation here [degoogle subreddit, a ted talk]
i'm documenting my progress via blog posts
  • make overalls! i have the fabric and the pattern, but not the skills yet. also my machine is likely to keel over if it has to sew through a couple layers of canvas. butttt i have muslin! so i should start a mockup!
  • i like to make my screens enjoyable to use! i'd like to set up something nicer on rainmeter, take better care of my computer's theme, maybe look at windhawk. this might all be fixed by switching to linux
  • set up plex server
  • engage with ritual, in whatever ways i can

my favorites

book Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
Gabrielle Zevin
Follows the lives of two video game developers. No description can make this book sound as good as it is. Made me sob. Gorgeous.
book A Psalm for the Wild Built
Becky Chambers
A robot monk with a tea shop. Cute, autumnal, solarpunk. A lovely world to fall into.
book The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald
The book that taught me that sometimes the curtains being blue really is that deep. And sometimes, the golfing is a dick joke.
video game Oxygen Not Included
Like caring for an ant farm, but instead of ants it's space colonists.
video game Factorio
Assembly line organization. There's also a survival component but we don't think about that too much.
movie The Old Guard
What if you had to deal with the consequences of immortality, but also, you were gay?
movie Into the Spiderverse
Holy art styles. A cool story about the one and only Spider-Man.
tv show Taskmaster
Funny people having fun and abiding by the letter of the law.
tv show Gravity Falls
Real life ARG masquerading as a children's show.
